
Poori
(2 varieties: plain and spicy)
Poori is a whole-wheat unleavened bread which puffs up when deep-fried in very hot oil in a skillet or wok. The steam forms a pillow-looking puff which will keep for about 10 minutes. The hollow spaces can be stuffed with a great variety of foods such as rice, lentils and vegetable dishes as well as yogurt. They are festive breads which are fun to make and impressive to serve. Spicy-Poori is great for anytime snack.
